I completely agree with you. I love going through old top drawings-ones using flash, because I get to see every stroke they used. Yes, I love java and canvas draw, but I like what you're saying.

I feel like rate my drawings has lost what it was originally created for and why all of us joined in the first place.  If we can't attract old users back, we should try to encourage others to be more active, to rate and comment more frequently. I recently liked a beautiful drawing that, 2 years ago, would have been a top drawing within the hour.  It was drawn 2 days ago, and it had only 3 likes.  That should say something about the lack of people looking through other peoples drawings.

I completely understand why we switched to 'liking' instead of rating, but I still don't find it to be beneficial to me, as it's hard to find places to improve.

I wish we still had that 'Feedback' thing on the commenting section of drawings too.

If everyone who is currently active takes the time to comment on other people's drawings (especially new artists!) I feel like we would have a more active site.  If someone comments on your drawing, take the time to look at one of theirs.

Oh how I miss the days of 100% animated playback. I loved *watching* everyone draw. I learned something new every. single. time.

Rather than raising the ink limits, they introduced JavaDraw and then CanvasDraw. In my opinion, the richness this place possessed immediately began to fade. Then, the removal of the rating system was the funeral. Hasta la vista artists!

Now I see amazing work, but I can't see how you achieved those results. It's frustrating to me. My favorite thing about this site was that it was like sitting over each artist's shoulder and watching them work - which is a rare privilege and one I deeply, deeply miss. hmm

I still love this place - but I have to admit it makes me a bit sad. I saw what a great place this was and I fear it was it's prime. I hope I'm wrong and we can breath some life back into it!

Keep drawing strong my friends. smile But please-oh-please, use that old FlashDraw once in a while, if only just for kicks.

RMD really needs an app. But it'll probably never happen.

A free downloadable app would be neat. Something to think about.

I agree. I'd get it, and I think people would be active more frequently.

I agree...I joined in 2007. RMD seemed more like a community and less like a competition.  I miss the old 1-10 scale.  I went on a 3 year [Unintentional] semi-hiatus, and since returning I have found it to be much quieter. Less people in drawchat, less people going through new drawings and commenting, etc. Does anyone else see this too, or is it just me?

I think that the only main difference that I have seen since I joined is the decreasing activity from RMD members, particularly from skilled artists. Usually this site used to have on average around 300-500 people online, and on weekends Draw Chat used to have around 25 people on average. The site was definitely more active on the users part. Perhaps, RMD should seek new methods towards attracting more people to the site. I know this is an Art site, but Draw Chat has a social aspect and it was the main platform where many artist interacted with one another, and it is good. Now, in light of this, perhaps that part of RMD should have newer means for communicating with fellow artist, such as webcams. Obviously, this is a 'family' friendly site, and webcams do open windows where RMD doesn't have total control of. Anyway, webcams may be a nice idea, but risky. Perhaps, a permanent IP address ban may serve as a deterrent for misbehavior. This is just my thought.

Same here. I originally joined RMD in 2008 on my first account... and there used to be quite a lot of people on RMD. Especially in the DrawChat. Now you're lucky to see just 10 people. Not sure what happened...

I haven't been on here as much as I would like, but it has died down somewhat and a lot of great artists seem to have disappeared, which is sad.  I miss the competitions. Also I have been having trouble with Java on my computer so I can't even get into Java draw, which is my favorite. I have come to hate Canvas Draw.  Would really love RMD to have an app for smartphone or tablet.  But I miss being on here and am going to try to rectify the situation...

Yeah, a lot has died down... and JavaDraw used to work just fine for me, too, but it's been a long time since it's worked, so I just stick to FlashDraw and CanvasDraw... which I don't mind, though, because I like them all. It would be nice to have JavaDraw as another option, though. I like it, too.

What seems to be the problem with JavaDrawing tool? It works great for me, except that I have to configure my Java settings in order to allow RMD to use Java.

It's been ages since I was active here. RMD is where I really started getting into digital art, and even just drawing in general.
I miss  the large amounts of active members.
Drawchat used to get so full (like, 40 members at once!), and yeah, sometimes it was a pain in the butt not being able to get the room you wanted, but there were lots of people to chat with!
I've grown since I first joined, started university, etc. I always want to get back into RMD, but I never seem to have the time.
I hope I can change that before it's too late.

Here's a quick question: Who remembers Sadik? Or AuroraSkye even?
