As part of our goal to adding a little more personalization to RMD, featured artists now get exposure on the homepage.

Part of the initial motivation for featured artists was to help expose artists whose drawings deserve much more exposure than they get. Usually these are aspiring unique artists that are either new, or just not as socially active on the site as other members. Their artwork speaks to us in a unique way but they need a little help getting noticed.

The only real way to do this, was to hand-pick artists. This is a task that myself and some moderators have taken on with a list of strict guidance - the most important is to find artists who do not yet have as much fame as others but their drawings show something special or unique.

This is just one small step (an important one) into us helping find ways to even out the field of exposure that is otherwise driven by statistics and numbers - which as we all know isn't the perfect solution to finding good artwork.
