I think it would be really nice to have possibility to draw curves on the flash tool. It would help many people.
On the other hand the circle tool feels like too much help for the artist.
What do you think?

Please explain what a curve tool is.

just like the line thing on paint that if you click beside the line you made, it turns into a curve... not that that explains it very well...

Oh yeah, that would be nice.

this was a good idea i think and yes like R-T shows , it's a tool allowing you to make curves. The purpose for it is it to make vector lines for circular items. Ofc, there is java, but java is not animated and...
(off topic)
I think the whole spirit of RMD was having the animated picture idea and like that everyone can see how its made etc. Now it's turning more into a deviantart kind of site, so I think more needs to be done about the flash tool, curve tool would be the right thing
Also because many people asked me, oh how is that picture made? I tell them it can't be shown in java tool. And then they said to me that the whole fun in their opinion was having it animated.
(off topic ends here)
So this tool would let people see much like the line tool the curves to be done.
I think though and understand maybe why it wasn't done yet: for it would be a sort of more confirmed tool, which explains why its in java. Still I think that many people could have cleaner lineart using curves instead of spending time with mouse and line tool, making superficial curves using the line tool.
And yes that's why I think that it could be useful.
I hope Mick checks this out.

I think the circle is useful, because if you use it as a primary part of your drawings, then it looks fakey and crappy.
But I use it on my guide, to make a head or whatever, and then I just build off of that.
A curve tool for Flash WOULD be nice, though.

Yes but how would it animate in the animiated replay /o.o

yup it would be nice

for the animated, first point would show as start and endpoint would be last part, so it can be just like pencil but in vector, also its possible to lay it out, its same principle as line tool just different shape.
well lets wait and see what Mick has to say about it

But I just don't see how it would work.

also if it helps imagine a car starting at one point and ending on another, much like that animating that woulnt require too much memory from the computer and it would be really a nice thing, Mick D: where is mIck!

Mick has been strangely inactive recently.
Mick, just an extra question as this thread seems quite popular.
Is the tool in action script 2 or 3?
and have you thought about making a version on AIR?

The thing about the Flash tool is that it doesn't actually SHOW you draw the line
it saves one line as a stroke which then appears....if you drew just one line using the line tool then had it replay it wouldn't show it going from point A to point B it would just pop up. Same as if they implemented a curve tool.

doesnt the same thing happen with the circle? yet it's still there?
