Re: Downloading ChibiPaint from the Internet

I downloaded that, and I now have the file ChibiPaintMod-alpha0.01.jar on my computer. I'm not seeing a way to use it though?

Are you using windows? Hm i thought if you have installed java this file will run by double click.

Okay could you try to put this file on the same directory as ChibiPaintMod-alpha0.01.jar and run it?
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/7694232/chibipaintmod.cmd

Edit: By the way you said in initial post that you've downloaded chibipaint from website. They have only .jar in archive, without anything to run it, so you probably already ran that kind of file big_smile

Re: Downloading ChibiPaint from the Internet

Yes, I'm using Windows. I clicked on it many times, but nothing happens. How can I add the file http://dl.dropbox.com/u/7694232/chibipaintmod.cmd with your Chibi .jar file?

The ChibiPaint .jar file works and runs, so I don't know why your edit of it doesn't hmm

Ok then .cmd is not needed. Well have you extracted the whole archive because in my case .jar need to have directory gfx (with all the stuff there) in the same dir as .jar itself, and you can't run it from archive.

I will probably fix this thing though, if it causes such confusion.

Re: Downloading ChibiPaint from the Internet

If anyone is interested i made a new version:
https://github.com/downloads/Predelnik/ … ha0.03.jar
Changes:
- added remembering of window size
- added remembering of last directory used
- added remembering of all widgets position and visibility
- now application asks about saving unsaved changes.
- added remembering of last ten opened files (and ctrl-1 ... ctrl-9 ctrl-0 hotkeys for opening them)

Application still has nasty bugs though like it hogs a crazy amount of memory if you creating new images and not giving it back, so you better reset it more often. And somehow I noticed that it's heating my GPU for some reason. I hope I will fix them in nearest future.

I think I will not put newer versions here, cause it kinda looks like an advertisement, and not so related to this site smile If anyone is interested they will be available here:
https://github.com/Predelnik/ChibiPaintMod/downloads

If anyone by any crazy chance wanna join further development, pm to me here or on github.

Sure, I'll join. Been wanting to add some functionality to chibipaint anyway.

First have to graduate tomorrow, and after that I should have time for a project smile

Oh that's really really nice, I don't have many features planned to for now though, and it's kinda hard to work on the project which I guess will never be used by too many people, but still it's fun and I think this program is really great and need some love smile

Re: Downloading ChibiPaint from the Internet

Omg sorry didn't see these thanks messages, just wanted to say "you're welcome" smile

Btw features I've added to my development version:
- remembering of all the brush settings
- visible brush circle to control brush size (useful if it depends on pressure).

Hope to release new version soon, though last time I've spent too much time fighting with memory issue, and couldn't beat it, it looks like it's hard to deal with large amounts of memory on java.

Re: Downloading ChibiPaint from the Internet

Well If by any chance, anyone is interested: after months of doing nothing I've decided to release new version with really tiny changes (about first two I write before):
- remembering of all the brush settings
- visible brush circle while drawing to control brush size (useful if it depends on pressure)
-Make settings like "linear interpolation" or "show grid" saving
-Increase amount of undos to 50 in application (I guess on rmd it's already increased)
-Improve image loading, so it should talke a lot less memory and looks like problem with gpu is no more too (maybe just on newer versions of java)
-Fix some little bugs in my previous code

Well and some experimental changes, I'm still unsure about:
-Add 'to all layers' checkbox to effects menu which obviously does application of effect to all layers, though it really wastes tons of memory if you used it often on big pictures
-Enable eraser when alpha is locked, not sure that it's right but I really was annoyed by it
-Add 'make grayscale' effect with some options.
-And the thing I totally unsure about, I made 'fill' and 'color picker' to be affected by 'sample all layers' checkbox, so if it isn't checked they use color from whole picture if it's not then from current layer only (So fill tool was acting like it wasn't checked before and color picker like it was checked). I think this functionality is needed but maybe I should create other checkbox for it, but 'sample all layers' one was always kinda strange for me, working only for watercolor brush and smudge tools.

https://github.com/downloads/Predelnik/ … intMod.jar

What I want to do in the future:
-Make fill tool more useful by adding ability to expand filled region by some pixels  so with using current 'sample all layers' it could be used for coloring lineart
-Well some hotkey system and I want to add ability to store a couple of configurations even for one brush and easy change between them.
-Exporting/importing to some other programs formats would be nice
-Easy transformations like rotation/scale would be nice too, but I guess it would be a lot of work

Re: Downloading ChibiPaint from the Internet

I just wanted to say thank you SO much for the save mod, Predelnik big_smile I just happened to be googling to see if there was a way other than screenshotting to save drawings on Chibipaint, since it's my favourite drawing tool, and stumbled upon this thread. I downloaded the latest mod and it works like a charm, and so easy to set up to! All I had to do was unzip the file and I was good to go! (I was initially a bit worried since I'm no coding expert, but I was really happy at how easy it was!)
Keep up the good work!

Re: Downloading ChibiPaint from the Internet

This is absolutely amazing. I always wanted to be able to use this tool outside of RMD, whether for school, or personal reasons. And since you added the mod for the saving, etc, this just completes it. smile
