I came up with with three rules when I'm drawing.
I call it the 3 P's of Art!
Practice
Patience
Phun(fun)
Practice: It really does make perfect, I've noticed my draws slowly get better and better =]
Patience: If you put this into your work you will notice a difference. Stop, and think about your picture when your drawing. occasionally say "Hmm, What can I do to make this better?"
Phun: If your not having fun, STOP! Art should be something you want to do, not something forced on you.
Those are my personal rules of drawing and I'd like to know the rest of yours?

1st of all, PATIENCE!!!!!!! (Don't get too sick tho...haha...har~...)
2nd, if I think my drawing suxs, other should have the same thought as well. Therefore I will keep correcting it until I dun think it suxs. This is how I improve myself.
After u are all done, do look at your own drawing to see whether u make any mistakes. I usually try to catch my own mistakes by staring at my own drawing for a long long LONG time...weird habit.

I like to always try something different. whether it be a new subject matter, a new style, a new coloring method, just do it in a way you've never done before. It won't always come out your best work, but sometimes you'll find something you never knew you enjoyed doing until you experiment.

No, really 
I'm not going to disagree with anyone here... But I don't have rules for when I draw...
What is the most important thing tho is for me to like what I do. If I draw a drawing that I really love, everyone else opinions doesn't really matter to be precise. If you care to much for what other says sometime the fun will be depressing...
What I'm trying to say is: Yes always try something new and have a lots of fun, but unless it's requests then ONLY think about yourself when you draw... Not: 'omg will the others like it? oh I have to change a bit' hell not... It's for you and only for you, never forget that ^^
If you like your pictures, then intentionally others will like them too 
cause the fun and effort shines trough and makes it obvious ^^ at least that's my experience..
If I was a little too complicated tell me XD
Oh yeah and happy aprils fools day ^^

My rules are:
1. Have fun
2. Do lots of small and large details
3. DON'T PANIC!
4. Draw an honest picture and not a dumb one

Constantly draw the things you can't draw, until you can.

1. open up your mind when you draw... not only think of the possibilities but the impossibilities as well.
2. practice until your hand durn near falls off! XD
2+1=3. look at other people's art. if you copy enough styles you eventual make a mix and have a style all your own.

rules? .....eh....um...*thinkin*
1. listen to music while drawin cos you're gonna get bored n won't draw with pleasure
2. don't get distracted ( i broke this rule so much)
3. eat or you're gonna faint on da keyboard

I totally agree except I don't eat at my computer 'cause I love it am super protective of it. But I agree with passion of the first two!

I listen to music when I draw but my rules are don't get frustrated with ur draws draws if they don't look excatly like the ref ur using or if u plan a drawing in your mind and at the end it doesn't look like it don't get frustrated just make it a s best as u can until ur sastisfied. I also agree to look back over ur drawings to c any mistakes how I do that is I quick save the draw then load it so io can look back over it.
