Step 1

WEE~ we're doing the RMD flash tool first 8DD

okay, so first, set the canvas to the guide layer :D we're gonna do a quick sketch on the guide layer first b4 we start the real thing. because u're a mouse user, it'll be dificult to get things right the first time :D

NOTE: the guide layer CAN'T be saved DDD: BE CAREFUL!!

Step 2

next, draw a quick sketch to get the proportions right. remember, this is a sketch, so it doesn't hav to be perfect =w= (see? mine's so fugly~~~)

don't worry, u'll be able to adjust it later :D in this step, u may chose which tool u want to do ur rough sketch with 8DD anyone will do ^w^ be it the pencil tool or the straight line tool.

NOTE: guide layer is normally in a slightly lighter shade of colour than the colour u chose

Step 3

okay, so once u're done with ur sketch, set the canvas back :DD

we're gonna start drawing over ur sketch

NOTE: any drawing on the guide layer can't be seen when uploaded into the website :D

Step 4

so, now just draw over ur sketch with the straight line tool :D

i completely advise u to use the staright line tool in this process because the pencil tool (freehand) is not so easy to control with the mouse DD: and ur line won't end up smooth DD:

Step 5

TIP:notice the pencil tool, it's all jagged-y (not a real word XDD) but if u use the straight line tool, u can click many line together to form a smooth line easily

WAAAY much easier to control XDD

Step 6

AND TADA~~~ you get a nice lineart on the RMD flash tool 8DD

Step 7

Kay, now on to the Java tool~~~ 8DD

just like the flash tool, do a rough sketch first :D on Layer 1

use the pencil tool i highlighted, brush size: 1 and opacity of the brush is around 74. use any tool which is more comfortable for you to make a sketch with ur mouse, be it free hand or the line tool or the bazier (correct my spelling) tool.

Step 8

next, create a new layer, by clicking the '+' sign at the bottom of this tool box.

and drag the layer 2 below the layer 1.

Step 9

NOTE: set layer 1's opacity to like around 45.

next draw over ur sketch on layer 2.

use the pencil tool i circled, brush size 1, opacaity around 137.

u MUST use the bezier tool in this step. because, for mouse users, the bezier tool in Java is the tool which is the smoothest and it'll make ur drawing turn out really well ^w^

<--- Like so

Step 10

next, to add a little professional touch to ur drawing.

notice the line on top ( the one with blue circles) it's just an ordinary line

now, look at the the bottom one, it's slightly faded. Looks more cooler, doesn't it XDD

to create this effect, use the eraser tool that i've circled. set the brush size to about 16 and the opacity to about 64. Just brush over the line a few times and u'll get this effect 8DD

Step 11

here's an example of the places u can use that effect. (the highlighted places 8DD)

here's some suggestions on where u can use this effect, eg: the tip of the hair, at the end of a line which isn't joint to another line

Step 12

lastly just complete the rest of the lineart and tada~ another lineart completed XDD

I hope this tutorial is useful to all beginner mouse users ^w^ hav fun drawing on RMD 8DD
