This tutorial is the simplest and most effect in way to start off drawing dogs. It goes step by step so if you repeat it enough, you can get a hang of your own style and branch out. ~ Good luck!
Alright! In this step, you are going to define a pose for gown puppy to be in.
start off with a small circle to show where the head will be. l am going to cheat and use the circle tool on paint, but it doesn't matter If the circle's not perfect. Its only a guideline.
The pose is clearer in this step because you are drawing the spine, and tail. In the next step, you will add the legs and paws.
here, you will add legs so your little pup can move!
dogs have 2 points in their front and back legs and they are placed in different places. you can put little circles to tell you where why are. like I have done here.
can you see where this is going now?
next up is defining the head and the body a bit more.
This is kinda sorta what i call "fleshing it out"
The head (depending on the type of dog-were doing a border collie) is a kind of arrow shape. The chest follows down until the shoulders and then swoops up gently.
now we need to flesh out the legs. Border collies have short but thin legs, so we can follow that guidline.
Follow the lines that served as the skeleton for your dog down both legs.
I will explain a way to draw the paws, so you can leave those alone for now.
paws are really simple to do once you know the trick.
from the leg, draw the bottom of the foot with a strait line.
then draw a little dome on top, to the end of the first line you drew.
put an extra little toe on the side, and some lines separating the toes on the inside of the foot.
its that simple. practice it to get the dimensions just the way you like it.
if you've ever seen a border collie, you've seen their cute littly ears that perk up when they are exicted, WE are going to leard how to draw those!
start off with a little triangle without a tip at the top, and another triangle faceing the same way.
put the paws and the ears on, and youve got almost a whole puppy.
all we have left is the tail, the face, and the fur.
the tail is super simple so pay attention:fallow your line, then make it super furry down the bottom of the tail.
now, for the fur. its gonna be the final line you draw for the body. we will work on the face next.
its best if you do this last part in a different color so you can delete the sketch and finalize it in MS Paint. I chose red because it is easy to distinguish from black.
