How to draw simple water droplets using the RMD Tool.
Step 1First, draw the surface that your water droplet(s) will be sitting on. In this tutorial I will be adding water droplets to this pear.
Step 2Using the pencil tool on thinnest and with transparency, draw the outline of where your water droplet will be.
Step 3Think about where the light source is coming from in your picture. Using black with transparency, create a shadow on the surface from the water droplet, and also inside the water droplet as shown.
Step 4Using white with transparency, add a small specular highlight where the light hits the droplet and softer highlight as shown - and there you have it! Remember that your water droplet may reflect it's surroundings.
Step 5Remember to make your water droplets different sizes. They may even run into one another.
Step 6My finished pic.
