An easy step-by-step tutorial, teaching how to draw realistic clouds.
Step 1First, start with a sky blue for the canvas color. (The sky is not plain blue, ever noticed how the sky turns lighter the farther you look?) Using transparency, add white layers towards the bottom of the canvas. Try to make them blend.
Step 2Clouds form in many shapes, EXCEPT these...
Step 3We will start with this shape, fluffy at top and flat on bottom. Use a thick pen size, white, and transparency to fill the shape of the cloud. This is just the first layer.
Step 4Then brighten up the top and sides of the cloud. This is where the light hits the most.
Step 5Keep adding allover, especially the top.
Step 6You can use a smaller brush size to make more fluffy puffs at top. Continue moving towards the center.
Step 7In the center, you can add more to make it look like it's poofing out of the side.
Step 8Now, fill up the rest lightly to keep the shape. Use very light blue and add more shading shape. (I'm just gonna add some swirls.)XP
Step 9You can finish off with blue or grey shading...and you are done with your fluffy puffy poofy cloud! YAY! :D (Try to say that 5 times fast!) I really hope this tutorial helped you!
