This is my first tutorial~! YAY! I'm not very proud of it and it only shows how to draw a chibi's head. I'll post another one for a full chibi some other time when I'm done with all the pictures and stuffz. I hope this helps a little bit with drawing chibi's and cute stuff...^^
Ok, go find your two best frineds, Mr. Paper and Mr. Pencil! Oh yes, and your other best friend, Mr. Eraser!
Got them? GREAT! Now the whole family's gathered! Now, check to se if you've got the following: your brain, imagination, creativity, eyes, hands...all check? Good, let's begin!
Now I know that you're all experienced in everything and all that but hey, I have a few things to share too, although they may not exactly be drawing tips.
Anyway, start off with a circle.
Ok...so no body's perfect. So what if mine is demented?
Ok, now the key to cute is: round face and big eyes! ^^
So, draw a very flatish looking "v" beneath the circle, er...well...I guess I should call it a slightly angled / angular half circle...?
(I can't explain well, can I)?
Yeah, it looks demented, you already mentioned that.(This has been illustrated by the blue line in the picture).
We'll fix up its shape later so it doesn't look all lopsided and...wrong... xD
Next up, eyes! Personally, the eyes are always, always my favorite part, next to the hair. It's funn~ ^^
The eyes, as you can see, are made very big to give the chibi the picture / essence of innocence. So even though he / she may look cute and harmless, they are actually evil master minds! >=O
Ok, so maybe not ALL of them but still...
And another thing about the eyes that very few people DON'T (as n only a few people don;t do this...or maybe I'm wrong) take into account is the space between the eyes. The eyes, are about one eye width apart. It helps to use guidlines, for any lazy people out there. That includes half of me... >.>
Another thing about chibi's is that they have smaller / shorter eyebrows than a regular anime character. ^~
And of course, since it's a chibi, the key is to be simple. Don't go totally crazy with eyelashes or strands of hair so that it looks more like a miniscule madman than a chibi. Usually, I don't include eyelashes, and if I do, I only show 2 or 3.
Now, this step is fun! You get to add stuff to your chibi's head! ^~
What I usually do is add the bangs first. I start with a single point from which the bangs would come out from, as you can...or maybe not...see from the picture ^~ Yea...the colors may be kinda light on the screen so you might hafta adjust your computer's settings. x] Sorry, I didn't realize and I'm too lazy to fix it...>_>
Then, I add a mouth, it's cute isn't it?! The kitty mouth sorta gives her a strong but cute personality...as if all chibis don't already have one...>.>
YAY! Almost there! x]
This last step is easy...or not, depending on who you are I guess. Personally, I think this is the easiest but also the hardest, unless you choose to do it on the computer. I like to do it by hand but it doesn't always turn out so great...but hey, that's what the computer is here for right? To help make editing waaaay easier! HOORAY FOR TECHNOLOGY! >_> I sound like a total has-been...
Anyway...the final product!
<<--- ^~ Yeah...it looks very pixely...'cos it is...but like I said before...I'm too lazy to fix it up xD You still get the point anyways, don't you?
So next time you try drawing something cute...keep these things in mind:
- One: Nothing is cute unless I say so! (jk jk lol)
- Two: Round face and big eyes or tiny beady eyes and a somewhat big mouth, facial features close together. Personally, those are my two fav. combo's xD
- Three: Simplicity is everything!
- Four: Have fun~! Do it your way if you wanna, I didn't make this to take over the world by controlling minds xD
- Five: Try to keep in mind your chibi's personality - or not - and even though they may be evil masterminds, let some cute leak through. =D
