My tutorial is on how to draw manga men the way I drew em :D Step by step I'll try to explain and make it as simple as I can :D
In the first step draw simple guidlines. They dont have to be perfect, just enough so you can know where to draw what. Lots of people dont follow guidelines, but i think its realllyy helpful and a good habit.
Next step you should make the guidelines just enough so you can see them using opacity. I used it on about 70-80% for this. Then simple trace out the head ears and neck. Like i said dont worry if it doesnt look perfect, at the end is when i do touch ups.
Next step is to draw the nose. Look on step 1 for the nose line. You should also be able to see it through your guidlines. The nose should be just about below the line, not too far below but not too high either, possibly where the ears stop is where the nose should too.
Now in this step remember your guidlines. The eyes should be placed in the CENTER of the head. Thats extremely important so make sure you do that. In red i just drew the eye sockets. Its a good way to get the main idea on where to place the eye. The top of the ears should be where the lay.
This is how it should look so far. I usually draw the eye brows first against the eye socket guideline i drew in the last step. On the left i showed you the difference within manlyness in men eyes. #1 is usually for kids and enfants, basically the bigger you make the eye the more kid-like the character becomes. #2 is for the teenage normall 16-20 ish look ( my character is usually with this). The straighter the eye the more mature they look. #3 is most likely for old men. The thicker the eye brows the more older and manly they look. #3 is most likely for fathers and grampas (middle-aged men).
Moutthh tiiimee. This step is one people do wrong(surprisingly). The lines i drew show the boundary of the mouth( jaw line). If the person is yelling or opening their mouth wide, the jawline should be bigger, from the nose down. Right at the bottom red line is usually where the bottom lip is placed. Sometimes i just fool around and test some mouth styles before putting it on the final drawing.
Next step is probably THE hardest step. Haiirrrrrrr. But i think its the funnest as well :D. Hair is drawn with quick smooth lines, otherwise it would look slopy. When drawing hair remember to NOT draw below the head line on your guidlines (red line). This is pretttyyy important, otherwise the head would look really strange and stuff. On the left i usually test out the style to draw by putting no extreme detail. When i draw it on the person i add lost more details and effort, but i keep the main style of the head the same ( i may change some things). The red dot on the rough hair is the point where the hair starts. This is pretttyyy important otherwise the hair makes no realistic feature to it.
This is the last step. Usually the finishing step where i clean up the pic or make fine details and stuff. If you look at the previous step, the hair was really messy ( to me at least) and so i use the fill tool to clean up and make it look more manga style ( like in the manga books xD). Somethings i changed just to satisfy myself, and you definately can too. I added dark shades and made the whole picture stand out more :D THE END.
