How to colour manga style drawings

This tutorial will show you how to add color to a manga drawing starting with line art. This is just something I like to do. I hope you get a few pointers from it.

Step 1

I just start with a rough picture, one maybe from my sketch book or just roughly drawn on the computer.

just put in the lines and then clean the lines up a bit

Step 3

on this picture I put some dark shading around the darker spots and coloured the eye

Step 4

this is where I coloured the skin, I made him more pale so that it's more of a contrast when I coloured the bedding, and the eye needed to pop out more.

Step 5

I coloured the hair and the blanket in this step keeping in mind that this is in a more darker space, so I didn't put any real shine on it. Only some light spots but not as light as I would in the day time per say.

Step 6

I coloured the pillow in so that it would look more like a shiny material, so it catches more light than the actual person

Step 7

here I cleaned up a bit and made the person a bit more sick looking, making the skin a little more pale compared to the more colourful parts
