manga Drawing Tutorial

How to Draw Emiko Nanawari. :D

This is how to draw my OC Emiko Nanawari. Character desgin by HikaruDesuuuXx and xxApplexHeartxx. :3

Tutorial category: manga
Tutorial type:
Submitted by:
Tools used: Java. :D But can be used in Photoshop or andy other programs.

Step 1

I'm drawing this as I make the tutorial. :P So bear with me. XD This is my OC Emiko Nanawari. So first I did the line art. I sketched before that.

Then I went to the layer under my lineart and used Different shades for the skin.

Red-ish pink-ish, Orangey-Peachy, Yellowy-Peachy and a peach. :) Only the Red, Orang anf Yellow ere used for shading. :D

Step 2

So what I did was use Blend size 60. And to make sure no colours came out side of the lines is to use lock alpha. Just don't erase while using lock alpha.

** I also added some blush using Airbrush with a colour more red than the skin tone. For that I used size 48. I placed the blush on the Cheeks and Shoulders. :)

Step 3

As you can see I added a gray background to make sure no colours were poking out of their homes. :)

Red= Highlights/ lighting.
Orange= Shading
Pink= Location of the bow. :)

For lighting we choose colours lighter than the base (The bigger circle)

For shading we choose colours darker than the base,

And for the ribbon... it's just there. XD

Step 4

As you can see in the image I used the base. Now we'll do the highlights/lighting first 'cuz then you'll know where to put your shading. :)

Step 5

As you can see in the image I used my lighting. First I used the darkest out of the lighting catergory. :) Then I used lighter than lighter. :) Now for shading.

Step 6

As you can see I added my shading in my ribon and then moved onto the hair. So first I started with a base. Sadly I forgot to put it on the canvas.

So I have my shading colours. The dark purples. And my lighting is the lavender colour. :) For the shading of the hair I layed the colours on top of each other then blended it. :) Next for lighting.

Step 7

As you can see I added the lighting but it's not done yet. I just added a streak of the lavender using the curve/ bezier tool. :) Now to the actual lighting. :)

Step 8

And there's the lighting. How I did it was:

I did the step above then I used the smudge tool size 7 and smudged the hair until it got that "effect". But for the "effect" to actually work you need to get the lightning tool size 56 and swipe it over the lavender and you get that colour. :)

Step 9

So what I did for the shirt was the same as I did for the Ribbon.

Blue- Base
Red- Shading
Purple- Lighting. :)

Now for a signature and background. :D

Step 10

So what I did was make my signature in black first. Then I used Lock Alpha and used the airbrush. You can't go outside the lines with lock alpha and it looks pretty too. :D

Now for background. :)

Step 11

That is my background. I will not tell you how to make backgrounds 'cuz that's my secret. ;9 The circles look like Gobstoppers. :D Yum.

Anyways, I hope this helps you one your journey of becoming a good aritist or an even better artist. :)

♥Anime. :)
