Step 1

first make a rough sketch

 

Step 2

then i made a finer sketch with guidelines
define the head shape (the chin shouldn't be to pointed)

 

 

Step 3

here are some examples for male eyes.
they're rather almond-shaped and slender than female eyes
the eylashes ( if you want to draw some) should be shorter and fewer than feamale ones

 

Step 4

some of hairstyles i use quite often (in variaton)
i rarely draw curly hair so i don't give an example^^

 

Step 5

i improved the scetch using a new layer
i added hair, facial features and other deatails
i draw males mouthes wider than females and the eyebrows thicker
if it fits to the rest i draw a bigger nose
if i don't know wich clothes i cold draw i leafe through a catalog or sth
i usualy draw after my fancy

 

 

Step 6

for the outlines add a new layer and lower the opacity of the scetch-layer

the finished lineart
