Step 1

:Coughs:

Okay sorry 'bout that. Welcome to my tutorial (My first. ^^) and sorry about the terrible quality and everything. Yes, i'm Asian so it would kinda be hard to understand me.

The first step is to make your sketch! I would write the number of the size for me to remember so that i can change to small sizes and bigger but remember the main one.

In sketches it is IMPORTANT to use a light color so that when you draw your lineart it will be easier to trace.

If you accidentally used a dark color then you may press the "Lock Alpha" in the corner to change it to a light color, or just use the light tool in the tool box to help you! :D

Light colors that will help you! : Sky blue, aquamarine, lime green, flashy yellow, orange, lavender purple, rose pink, or grey. Colors like that will help you. :D

Step 2

Now the next step is to use a much DARKER *highlights darker* color to be your lineart. Simply trace over your sketch and there you have it.

I usually delete my sketch layer but if you want to keep it that's fine.

If you have trouble tracing over lines and don't like to use your mouse / pad / tablet to trace them. Then use the "Curving Stroke" to trace them. I DO suggest you use that tool, because it is way easier than using your hands. (P.S. For the eyes i used my tablet to make those marks NOT the "Textures" palette.)

I do recommend you TRY to make the lineart with your hands once in a while, cause the bare thin, delicate lines get a little boring. No offense if it offended you. C:

I am sorry if my paragraphs are long, i do essays MUCH longer so i try to shorten this out.

If my English sucks then i'm sorry i'm only eleven so how would i know. XD

Step 3

Next i simply draw my background. Why do i draw this first you ask? Well i draw and color it first because then when i color i use VERY light colors. So then i can see ALL the light colors and where i color them.

I used the "Textures" palette to help me make a pattern, then i simply use the straight strokes to make those lines! :D

I USUALLY use a medium color for the background so that i can see all the dark AND light colors. ^^

Onto my next step then.

Step 4

Hehe now we have my first step! The skin! My favorite part of coloring. I am going to say this once because i hate to repeat it over again, i put the eye coloring into the same layer as the skin. I hate to use 6 layers so i started using 5. D: OMG i just noticed that's very little.

In the main part of skin i use a yellowish-orangish color. :D It can be lighter or darker if you would like.

AFTER you are DONE coloring EVERY part of the skin then you simply hit the "Lock Alpha" box so that you will only color in the SPOTS you COLORED in. ^^

(P.S. The parts where i make them capitalized is the important word/s.)

Now i simply zoom up and shade in the most IMPORTANT part! :D

Step 5

If you have trouble shading in spots and don't know where to shad them simply put an object under a lamp / light and look at where the sun is at.

If you are used to shading and every then you won't need that information.

Shading colors would need a much darker color! You can use colors such as : Purple, Magenta, Brown, or even Black. I usually use the brown one, but purple and magenta would be used most of the time.

My lips and mouth would be colored around the last part of the tutorial. Onto the next step!!! :DDD

Step 6

Now we blend!!! :D

I do not recommend the bluring tool because it doesn't do much affect to colors and blend as much as the watercolor tool.

When you are done blending simply add little lighter colors to show some cuteness! :D

If you DON'T like to blend colors then you should skip this step, since it won't help you.

Step 7

Now we have eyes!!! :D

Um it isn't really important so, all you do for this step is to first select the watercolor brush and use VERY little white for the outside of your eyeball. (I don't know what it's called)

Then you simply go back to using the pen brush to color the main part.

You see the big circle in the eye? That's where you shade in very dark. ^^

Then everything else you keep it main, and normal. Where you see the oval or whatever you want to call it, make it really light and then add some white into it.

The other part of the eye you simply use the watercolor brush to blend VERY LITTLE dark blue to make her eye look shiny. :D

Step 8

Now we have the hair! :D

I chose blonde yellow hair to match with the blue eyes. ^^

You should have made a new layer and called it "Hair" or whatever you'd like. Simply click the "Lock Alpha" button.

You are now ready for the next step! :D

Step 9

Now we simply add shades and everything to make it contrast with each other.

You ONLY shade in the parts that are suppose to be shaded on.

I am warning you that this picture will have more orange into the hair instead of golden yellow. ^^

OMG my paragraphs are shrinking!!! :[

Step 10

Now we simply blend the golden yellow with the orange! :D

I only blend for an amount of time, so that all my parts will be equal. Like not too detailed there and here.

The hair should look a little bit like this but also look a bit more detailed.

If you do NOT like to blend please move forward on! :D

To everyone!!! : Do NOT overdue yourself to one part of the drawing it should all be one style if you are coloring like that!

Step 11

Now we have the shirt and ribbon. Please simply click the "Lock Alpha" box so that you can make a new layer and color where ever the shirt is.

Stick to your color and start shading!!! :D You should be doing the same to the ribbon, the button, the shirt, AND the hair clip!

When you are finished simply blend the colors together until it looks like how you want it to be.

If you do NOT like to blend please simply move on to the final step! :D

Step 12

Now we have the final picture!!! :D

When you are finished all the little details should be colored in and the main ones too! :D

If you like to put a signature then use the pencil tool to make a beautiful sign. If you don't want a signature then skip it. Just like i did! :D

Thank you for viewing my tutorial!!! :D I hope this helped you guys and i hope you guys learned how to draw AND color just like me! :D

I am SO SORRY for the terrible quality, it doesn't happen to DeviantArt when i upload something from snapshots.

The final picture is here! : [ LINK ]

If this wasn't so confusing then please message me so that i can make and upload another tutorial!!! :D

Okay bye everyone i'm going to eat lunch now! :D
