Well, sometimes when looking on some places I see people that don't exactly got the hang of drawing anime people. This tutorial shows my process in drawing manga faces, starting with basic shapes and finishing with coloring. Yeah, tutorials helped me, so I figured why not help others?
Step 1Now, on the second layer, you add the outline of the face!!!
Notice how both ends of the outline of the face meet with the circle, and that the tip of the chin meets the bottom of the vertical line.
(IN CASE SOME OF YOU HAVE FORGOTTEN, VERTICAL IS UP AND DOWN!!!)
For the next step, you have to go back to the base layer.
Step 2Now, do you notice anything different? If you didn't your blind.
I added the neck down of what is showing in the picture. Everything that IS the neck AND down is done on the first layer.
The shoulders should be wider than the head, and the neck should curve and look naturally attached to the head.
If it doesn't then you did something WRONG. NEXT STEP!
Step 3Now the facial features. Notice that my style eyes are more open, yet the character is non smiling. YOU CAN CHANGE THAT!!!
Now, the next step will be more of a sidenote, if you will. A mini tutorial on how to form the eyes. Aren't I generous??
Step 4Pretty self explainatory.
I said in the last step that I was going to give you people a mini eye tutorial so you weren't stumped on what I did.
So here ya go. :P
Step 5Back to the picture!! Anyways, now we start coloring!!
First you have to choose a main skin color. Make sure when your coloring YOU DO IT ON THE FIRST LAYER!!!
YOU ALWAYS DO THE SKIN COLOR FIRST PEOPLE!
Yeah, I'm too lazy to get into small things, so I just colored the shirt the same color as the skin for the time being. I WILL CHANGE IT!!
Ehem, I'm done ranting now. NEXT STEPPERS!
Step 6Now, take a look. SEE!? I SAID I WOULD CHANGE IT!!!
Well, as you can see, you choose your shirt color next. I chose blue to show how you would usually shade, even though I would choose black.
Too bad for me.
The shading and tints will come later. Right now we are choosing the base colors so DON'T GET AHEAD OF YOURSELF!!
Step 7Self explanatory once again. Just choose a hair color.
No comment besides that except that the shading and tinting comes next!!! WOO.
NEXT!!
Step 8Notice the places where I have shaded. For my character, the light source is UPWARD. Okays?
NEXT: Tints!!
Step 9Self EXPLANATORY. Mmkay? Just choose a color lighter or more transparent than that of the color you used as the main.
So, besides that, no comment. :P
Next step: EYES
Step 10LAST STEP!!!
Now, the eyes you need three different colors:
-The Main Color
-The Light Color
-The Dark Color
Now, how to distribute them:
You have to add the first color, the main color first. Then you have to dab the lighter color under the pupil LIGHTLY.
Then, around the glint made by light you dab the dark color LIGHTLY.
And your finished product shoult look nice. Mine, really not so much, I did a crappy job -.-.
