Step 1

First of all Fill in you canvas with black

 

Step 2

-select pen tool
-add new layer
-select bezier (spline) tool

 

 

Step 3

Next select some color (in my case i selected blue because my jewel is going to be blue color). Then make a curve like shown in the picture. I suggest to be very acurate and make it look like half a circle (because we are going to make a circle out of it). It took me about 6 to 10 times to make it, so don't get upset if it does not work after few times, you need to get use to the spline tool.

 

Step 4

Now select the "selection tool"

Select half of the circle.

 

 

Step 6

Go to Edit and Copy

Next click Edit again and Paste

 

Step 8

Notice that new layer appered, do not change anything to it.

 

Step 9

Go to Effects and select Flip Horizontal.

 

Step 10

That's what you should have as a result. It is not yet linked together, and we are going to change it now!

Select Move tool

 

Step 12

And move the half to the other that it creates a circle.

 

Step 13

Next go to Layers and Merge Down (only once).

 

Step 14

You should have only 2 layers now, be sure to work on layer 2 and not 1.
Select Bucket tool and fill in your circle with color that you used at first time for circle outline.

 

Step 15

Start drawing carefully over black space that you see on the circle.

 

Step 16

You should end up with solid look like this. Be very careful not to go over the border og the circle otherwise it will not going to look like circle anymore.

 

Step 17

Select Layer 1 now by clicking on it once. Select bucket tool and change the color of the canvas to grey (medium grey, not too light and not tooo dark).

 

Step 18

Select Layer 2 by clicking on it once. Then tick "Lock Alpha" box.

 

Step 19

Select Airbrush and set brush settings like shown in this diagram.

 

Step 20

Select some beautifull lighter color. I selected light bluish green. Draw it in like in my picture (more at the bottom and none at the top)

 

Step 21

Now find some darker color that you like and draw at the top and a bit at the sides (don't be scared to draw outside the ball, you won't be able to because alpha is locked) Experiment with it a bit and see if you can make it same as in the picture shown here.

 

Step 22

Now select black and go around adding a bit more at the bottom (all with airbrush tool).

 

Step 23

now add another layer "layer no 3" and untick the "alpha box"

 

Step 24

Now add solid white (brush settings Opacity 100%) with a pencil tool with a bit smaller brush (make it round or a bit more oval).

 

Step 25

Next select soft eraser and adjust brush settings like shown in the picture.

 

Step 26

Now erase the bottom part of the white circle.

 

Step 27

select pen tool and then spline tool. Adjust brush settings.

 

Step 28

Add new layer "Layer 4" and draw some curvy shape like in the picture or as you want.

 

Step 29

Now select soft eraser again and erase one side from the shape leaving only one side sharp and crisp.

 

Step 30

Here i did the process again twice, note that for each shape you need to add new layer. After i went back to layer 1 and changed my background color again.

 

Step 31

while you are on the first layer add one more layer. Select Pen tool Spline tool and adjust brush settings.

 

Step 32

Make some curve anywhere you want to.

 

Step 33

Select normal free hand again, soft eraser and adjust brush settings.

 

Step 34

Erase one side of the curve.

 

Step 35

Repeat stage again to make some beautiful layered background.
Note: for each curvy stripe you need to add new layer otherwise you will erase other things.

Add your signature!

And voilà!!
