Started off drawing with ballpoint pens really, I shade with scribbles so it works out fine for me. Drawing with pen challenges you a whole lot more because you need to think about what you're doing because any mistake is a huge one cause it's pretty much permanent and trying to fix it requires effort. Even when I use pencil, I still go with similar approach, I hardly ever erase unless it's absolutely unfixable. I go with pen, because it has a close place to my heart big_smile

I trained myself to use pens. I love a dark line.pencils are okay but smudge if you arent careful. pens it is!!

I mix them. I usually do line work with "pigma" micron or brush pens and add shadows with pencils.

Pencils, and then outlining in pen if I feel like it

I used to use pencil to draw out guides for my drawings, but somehow when I improved more I preferred it when I just use black pen to sketch it out.

It looks rough and sketchy but that's how I like it

pencils all the way! though i dont' like it when i draw too lightly and it ends up blurring slighty or fading. hmm but i'm scared to death of drawing with pens 'cause if i make a mistake, i could mess up the whole drawing.

Hmm...good question o_o I think I prefer pencil because...well,it's easier to shade with. But then again, pens can make bold lines. ouo Pencils. =u=b

Hmm, lately I seem to be drawing with pen, but I only sketch...
I'd still say pen though smile
I just like it how it's black and most of times using pencil looks just 'dirty' to a way...don't really know how to say it xD
As for the shading...yeah, it can be done with a pen too and in my opinion it looks cooler than with a pencil xD
And I have color pens too wink

(how long has it been since I even used a pencil, anyway...? and yeah, just gotta agree with red rogue xD)
(just that I erase in one direction without much fury, so the crumpled paper doesn't happen to least not often. considering I don't even use pencil that has to be erased anymore xD)

Pencil....cause it feels nicer to grip and cause....I can erase my errors easier with eraser....

I was drawing previously just in time slacking off on some lectures or lessons and that's why I was always doing it using pen. But in traditional way I suck at drawing even more than in digital actually.

Edit: Oh sorry I wanted to say pen actually, so I fixed this big_smile

Pencils, because once I get the drawing to be perfect, I can go over it with pen. C:

I like them both tongue

I used to be a pen artist before I practiced pencil drawing.

pencil, it's much easier control...
pen is okay, but I'm really a messy drawer, so my 'sketching' looks... not very smooth.

but digital overall is my choice, since it doesn't leave annoying smudge marks when I erase, it looks much cleaner and I can use the Ctrl+Z function to undo stupid, crazy strokes when my hand spasms smile (or a certain annoying relative comes past and pushes you while you're in deep concentration >_>)

I started out as an artist drawing portraits in pencil.  Loved that I could shade with a pencil. With a pen had to work harder hatching and trying to make the pic look like it was shaded.  Now I LOVE digital.  No erasing, Whoopie.
