RMD should add a randomizer for your home page.

That's the page I'm usually on the most.

Have it like the recent draws from friends, but this shows completely random drawings. Also add option to allow from certain dates, random draws drawn this week, day, month, weekly. Make it apparent and navigational

Just a thought..

if it is not enough try harder smile)

LOL I know this post is old but I know how you feel I've been here since 2010 and literally have not had one featured draw no matter how hard I work tongue

Sometimes I feel the other way, like I get too many comments and rates while not being active at all and my pictures are lazy, though while I was active I could get demotivated by stuff like this of course.

I believe if you will watch and comment on other people pictures, comment on their profiles and stuff like that you will eventually get more rates and that's basically because all of the sites for drawings are not just for exposition of your drawings but they are kinda like social network so you have to be social in a way big_smile In a RMD being social means mostly leaving interesting comments and stuff like that.

So if you're extra awesome painter from the start you will get more rates and views from the start of course, but for learning and training in doing stuff, I believe it's better to accept social nature of such sites smile

Good Luck!

oo thank you! Going to try that now smile

Haha I'm glad you agree and to view drawings views, you have to click on the the drawing statistics thingy. If you click on you drawing I believe it would be under the rate thing on the right. It's in blue and on the left of it it has some king of red chart thingy. (you can only view yours though..>.> which I'm sure you could guess)

Ah I love long replies <3 haha and I will admit some of my art work I get a little lazy and sloppy but some I spend over 6 hours on (like my latest "Cosplay CardCaptor" but I, myself can see where Ive put the effort in I hope others do too!
And I agree.
Instead of doing original manga (since manga is all I draw really) I try to get requests and draw anime thats already exists( like k-on) or (what I've been doing lately) is I will draw a fairly well known manga (like cardcaptors sakura) and change it a bit.
I really do blame the lack of rates n comments on inactivitie and I hear you about the DC! I miss having a lot of people in it sad its usually so dead!

Alssooo how do you see how many views your drawing or profile has gotten?

30 May, 2013 12:51 am

I think the way to earn rate/comments is to put a lot of effort in your drawings-something I'm sure you do-(something I don't do)and it will attract people I guess.
I also think maybe draw something that people are interested in(though it's pretty impossible to know what everyone likes)maybe like if there is a large number of drawings in a category that seems to get lots of rates and comments maybe you could try drawing that thing they are interested in.(But I think every one should draw what they like and not change what they want to draw to get rates and comments..just a suggestion though). I also agree with horse_lover and the rest of you. I think it's because more people are inactive on here.(Drawchat *sniffle* the bumbling good times were the rooms had over 5 members in them.)
Uhmm well I typed enough don't you think. Sorry for the long comment and  I hope I helped you in some way >.>
Peace~AMIYUMI (the girl who gets over 20 to 50 views on most her drawings and only 3-5 comments but I understand the reason why I'm still not a great artist and these tools are still hard to use after almost 1 1/2 years on RMD) I hope all of you will get more rates in the future.
EDIT: I just checked out your drawings and they deserve more comments and rates. I just want comments to tell how I did and what I could improve on. Once again I hope all of your current and future drawings will get more rates and comments.

Most people will just view your art, not even rate. Every time I look at my drawing statistics I'll have 1 or 2 rates and about 30 views. It's very saddening.

29 May, 2013 9:36 pm

I see what you are saying. I do think I am going to make more of an effort to comment and rate on people who take the time to comment and rate my work smile also perhaps in the future I will post in the description that I am looking for critiques. I usually love the thought of people helping me improve my art but when people begin to point out a big deal of things I get a little overwhelmed and discouraged that my art work isn't perfect LOL

29 May, 2013 7:48 pm

I used to have more rates as well. I would comment nice looking works and then they would comment me back. And anybody who commented and rated my stuff, I would go over to their page to look at their stuff.

But somewhere it seems like that strategy is being abused hmm
idk how to explain it xd
so you can ignore that

Lack of rates is also a demotivator.
I only rate now. Honest rates. Like 3-4 hearts.
But I don't comment. Because it doesn't feel right to endlessly compliment their work if there are obvious flaws in it, but when you criticise, there is a risk that they might rage at you.
If I rate 5 on a 3-4 hearts drawing, I just feel blegh.

rating n commenting on other peoples artwork certainly helps-also making more friends on rmd. :3 i am sorry bout the lack of rates/comments on your artwork though--keep drawing!

29 May, 2013 4:09 pm

I think it has to do with the lack of people on rmd too. Ive noticed there is barely any new draws in the last few weeks. Rmd's activity has gone down n it saddens me because I love this site and unless there is one similar thats active I want to stay here lol

29 May, 2013 2:45 pm

i feel the same way miloona. i've been drawing every day spending hours on my artwork. but i barely get any rates and comments, people just don't care any more. they'll either rate and not comment or vice versa. people just don't feel the need to anymore, thinking that it won't accomplish anything. and i tried doing rate and comment swaps in drawchat, but that just **** people off. so i now just hope for the best.

29 May, 2013 2:19 pm

Not sure if this is the right place to put this.

But I disappeared off RMD for over 2 years and I am starting to come back now. (trying to do 2-3 drawings a week)
I am getting a little discouraged at the lack of rates / comments compared to what I use to get.
Granted  that my work needs a bit of improvement  since I am a little rusty,
But still even some of my worst art has gotten a decent amount of rates/comments.
I am just wondering how to get it back up.
I have been trying to become more active on the forums, going drawings for requests, chatting in threads etc.
I am also trying to comment and rate on more of the new draws that come in.
Not to sure what else to do besides this and going around asking people to rate/comment on my new work lol
Suggestions? Thanks smile <3
