User Ranking slight adjustments

We have recently taken a look through the user ranking system and have noticed over time the dynamics of RateMyDrawings changes.  We get more and more top artists, more and more drawings, more and more ratings, which means data simply changes.

It is important that we review any existing ranking systems every so often to ensure they are what is best in the current community. So after some reviewing, we have made some VERY MINOR adjustments to the ranking algorithm that may shift some users rankings around.

It will take a little while (up to a week) before all users ranks are synchronized since the way ranking works is that every time one persons rank changes, it effects everyone elses rank.

We will keep monitoring how this change effects the system and may continue to make tweaks if needed.

On another, but similar topic, we plan on making some changes to the "Top Artists" page in the near future that will put even more focus on "Featured Artists" (hand picked) and less focus on "Ranked Artists" (mathematically picked).  Our goal here is to add more of a human touch to the site and encourage people to focus on simply drawing well as a way to get noticed and less on gaining rates and scores.  The beauty of a hand picked system is that you can get very few rates but if your drawings stand out as being great, we can still feature you.

So as always - draw with passion and don't focus too much on numbers and scores smile

The best way to support our community is to just keep drawing - even if it's for fun and not serious. Another way is by taking time to occasionally rate and comments drawings by new or learning artists.
