This is just a step to show you guys how I color my character's skin, hope that new members can learn from this.
Start with a line art of course..
Use a base color for the background.
Determine where the light is and where it well be hitting.
Once I know where the light well be hitting, I start by choosing a lighter color.
Make sure your opacity isn't too high, so when you blend it well be easy.
Once that color is in, chose a more lighter color and blend into the previous lighter color. Her skin well become more lighter near where the light is coming from.
This well give it more of a 3 dimensional, if you are aiming for that.
Now, Next is you want to determine where the light isn't hitting, so where the right arm is covering it well be darker....And at the inner parts of the left arm, well also be darker.
If you want a softer smooth tone, I suggest to use the airbrush tool.
Next is the eye, you want to make the folds of her eyelids to be dark. Blend out the colors until it doesn't appear as a line.
I always use a darker color for the outer parts of the eyelid.
Also use a darker color for the bottom parts of the eye, so the eye well appear to be round instead of flat.
Add in her iris. And some light, so that she doesn't appear to be dead..
I can't tell if you can read the text but, I always so my inner eyebrows to be light while as it goes further out, it became darker.
Add in some highlights on her nose and inner parts of her eyes.
I mainly use the pen too with low opacity for her next area, but airbrush works as well.
Now without lines.....I haven't done her hair yet so she'll probably look a bit ugly, but soon I will.
